Hiya! Sibling duo Ben and Sam here again.<\/p>\n

We wanted to reiterate our question from last week, which you didn’t get to reading on the telegraph episode, because I think it’s more pressing than ever given that Bernard is a host. What’s up with the host in the white dress who introduces William to Westworld?<\/p>\n

We now know that hosts cannot perceive things that make them question the nature of their reality i.e. Bernard cannot see the diagram of himself, or Hector ignores the word “carry-on.” This reminds me of the concept of perception filters in Doctor Who, where objects are rendered invisible because your brain is forced to ignore them. I think that the consistent question “Have you ever questioned the nature of your reality?” is a question of consciousness. If a host questions the nature of their reality, they are one step closer to consciousness and asking is a test to make sure that hosts are not becoming conscious. because “self-interest” (which is the second to last step on the consciousness pyramid) could be defined as the ability to question the nature of one’s own existence.<\/p>\n

The host in the white dress is the only host (besides Bernard and Maeve now) who actively knows things that would make her question the nature of her reality. If Have you ever questioned the nature of your reality? is a test of consciousness, is she a conscious host along with Maeve and Bernard?<\/p>\n

Furthermore, “bulk apperception” could be related to the hosts inability to see things that make them question their reality. Apperception is not intelligence necessarily, but is the ability to incorporate new knowledge into your current understanding. Don’t really have a theory on that, just thought it would be interesting to bring up.<\/p>\n
