I’m feeling so nostalgic right now. Congrats on making it to the top of the iTunes charts. You guys deserve all the praise and more. So happy Westworld is back to feed my 3-a-week Shat addiction.<\/p>\n

I was physically shaking when I was watching the “previously on” segment and then nearly on the verge of tears during the title sequence. Then about 10 minutes in, I started getting deflated. It’s not that I didn’t like it, but the anticipation had built up my expectations. Part of it was that the last few weeks in the lead up contained loads of hidden easter eggs so I thought the first episode would be full of stuff to find, but instead it felt too easy.<\/p>\n

Actually, it felt like network execs gave the showrunners a bunch of notes on how the show needs to be simplified to reach a wider audience. The DNA reveal, for example. There have been clues since the beginning of season 1, but I still didn’t expect them to just give it away so easily. Maybe there’s a deeper mystery. The other issue that I had was that they seemed to up the gore factor this season. I felt like the scene on the beach was a bit too long, both the executions of Rebus et al. and the subsequent brain surgery. Then the MIB shootout also felt a bit extra.<\/p>\n

OK, with that out of the way…<\/p>\n

• Timeline
\nWe have been told this season that we are looking at a 2-week timeframe from the massacre to when Bernard wakes up on the beach. Ghost nation dude was killed by Dolores about 3 days following the massacre (11 days, 9 hours before the beach scene). So it seems that all of the scenes with MIB, Charlotte\/Bernard, Dolores\/Teddy, Maeve\/Sizemore that we see are in those first 3 days after the massacre.<\/p>\n

The timing of the scene with Bernard\/Dolores at the very beginning is still questionable. It almost feels like this has all happened before. He’s talking about a dream he had about waking up on the beach, implying that this is in the future as Host dreams are memories. Which would mean that everything turns out just fine and they carry on after having both been reset. Which, in turn, means that they are still having private conversations as Dolores apparently did with Arnold.<\/p>\n

Could this be in the past? Has this all happened before?<\/p>\n\n\t\t
