Hi Guys, Love the show.<\/p>\n

Noticed something interesting in re-watching episode 1 that may relate to current events. Following Abernathy’s Shakespearean threats, Ford realises he’s accessing previous builds. He says Abernathy was previously ‘The Professor’ in a horror narrative called ‘The Dinner Party’. He was the leader of a group of cultists who ‘went into the desert and turned to cannibalism’. This is simultaneously a nod to The Donner Party and The Shining which is cool enough in itself. But the fact that he’s ‘professing’ could hint at what’s to come once he’s loaded up with knowledge and perhaps escaped into the park as a sort of ‘hosts saviour’ who advocates eating the guests. Interesting too that Lee Sizemore was creating a cannibal character for the Wyatt\/desert scene and the Minotaur pic on his wall. If the Nolans are as nuts about Kubrick as I’m starting to think very much that they are, then little things like this that we seem to be supposed to ignore will probably turn out to be major themes. Look out for more cannibalism and The Shining references. The Ouroboros (self cannibalism) and Jack’s appearance in the picture at the end of The Shining both being sort of examples of a world (or story) turning in on itself. For example, it wouldn’t surprise me if the recent incident with Ghost Nation was, in fact, part of the Oddyssey on Red River. I know I’ve gotten a little off topic and into ‘fan fiction’ here but I don’t think the Nolan’s can resist screwing with us, like Stanley used to do so well – little arcs within the main story that mirror, belie and haunt each other.<\/p>\n

Overall – one could say that Westworld is a metaphor for America – A bold experiment in a new kind of society. It was imagined as one where everyone could be free to be what they want and live their dreams. Of course it became one where everyone and everything is free to be bought and sold to those with the deepest pockets. The rich play their games with the lives of the poor – this is the sad reality of the Western World\/Westworld. It’s no fairer than any other system and, no matter who’s in charge, the peasants are revolting!<\/p>\n
