\nonly way to accurately duplicate his
\nmemories, instincts, etc., would require a
\ndeep scan of his brain and a mapping of his
\nneural connections. Anything less would
\nresult in a poor imitation, and it would be
\ncrazy for anyone (in particular Delos) to
\nconsider a poor imitation to be an extended
\nlifespan.<\/p>\n

\nperson is an ending of the original person.
\nI think the only way to really avoid death
\nwould be to gradually replace tiny pieces of
\none’s brain with functionally equivalent
\npieces over a series of many surgeries. That
\nwould provide continuity of selfness, and
\nthere wouldn’t be a time you could reasonably
\nsay was a time of death.<\/p>\n

\nfor Maeve’s secret programmer are Theresa,
\nCharlotte, Bernard and\/or Emily.<\/p>\n
\nDune: (5.1) the original
\ntheatrically-released version, (5.2) the
\nre-released version (from which David Lynch
\ninsisted his name be removed), (5.3) the
\nfan-produced combination of the first two,
\nand (5.4) the SyFy Channel’s two Dune
\nminiseries (based on the three novels Dune,
\nChildren of Dune and Dune Messiah). The
\nfan-produced combo is better than the first
\ntwo, and the SyFy miniseries were okay. If
\nyou want to see Patrick Stewart badly hamming
\nup his scenes before he became famous as Star

\nlied, it was because he needed an excuse to
\nplug in directly to the hosts. Either the
\ndirect connection gave him additional access
\nto the hosts that’s not available over the
\nMesh Network, or it allowed his interactions
\nwith the hosts to be private and\/or secure.<\/p>\n
\ndidn’t Maeve try to tame him with a narrative
\nof compliance, or at least a narrative of
\npeaceful parley?<\/p>\n
\nBernard intently observed surgical
\nextractions of control units from host skulls
\nas if it was all very new to him… and maybe
\nhis purpose was to learn how it’s done. A
\nminute later, after Bernard spotted Teddy’s
\ncorpse, he spent a long time gazing at the
\ncorpse, and at the end of the scene he was
\nstill gazing at it, which makes that seem
\nvery significant. I’m inclined to believe the
\n“Bernard is Teddy” theory.<\/p>\n
\nordered his trooper to have Peter Abernathy
\nbrought to him personally when Abernathy is
\nfound. Charlotte wasn’t in the episode…
\nhas her plotting been discovered, and has she
\nbeen deposed? Or perhaps she’s been killed.<\/p>\n\n
