\nJust a thought, use it or not:<\/p>\n

I don’t think they’re seriously suggesting William might be a host. I think it’s very clear that he’s human. Why would they show the scanner confirming him as human if they’re just going to handwave that entire procedure away? You talk about establishing ‘ground rules’, this would be ripping one of them up.<\/p>\n

Rather, they’re painting him as an opposite charricature to the emergence of sapience in the hosts. Although he’s human, his life is a lie, he’s ‘fake’ and ‘artificial’. Ford’s game with William is to drive this point home though Williams loss of himself, to basically drive him insane by making HIM question the nature of HIS reality, to show the viewer that the hosts are just as ‘real’ as us, or that they’re no less ‘fake’ than we are.<\/p>\n

This is a necessary component to Ford’s plan, or a test as such. It’s not enough to create something he can claim as new life, but to pit it against humanity, in this case William, and demonstrate it as equal or superior. A negative component of ‘faulty humanity’ to contrast against the positive creation of artificial life in the hosts, as this creation of life is Fords signature, rather than the ‘immortality’ project of Williams. He likely chose William specifically, as a direct attack at the opposing philosophy and self-centered search for immortality, and as an easy target that he knew he could manipulate, due to Williams obvious faults.<\/p>\n

In short, I think Williams is clearly human, as one of the few human elements of the show that’s in contrast to the host-centric ideas explored with other characters.<\/p>\n
