The speed of the seawater flooding into the
\nForge would be limited by the diameter of the
\nunderground pipe that connects the sea to the
\nForge, so a giant wave wouldn’t necessarily
\nbe expected. Also, if the pipe enters the
\nForge near the upper level, more of the water
\nwould flow down into the depths of the Forge
\nthan would bubble up through the surface
\n(until the depths are fully flooded),
\nreducing the size of the upward wave. Also,
\nif the valley is only a few feet below sea
\nlevel, I think there wouldn’t be a lot of
\npressure forcing the water up to the surface,
\nso a geyser wouldn’t necessarily be
\nexpected. Of course, anything is possible
\ngiven the writers’ lack of expertise in
\nhydrodynamics, their preference for drama and
\nmystery at the expense of realism when
\nnecessary, the cost of realistic special
\neffects, etc.<\/p>\n

I think a break of the Raj dam can be ruled
\nout by the reactions of Strand’s QA in
\nepisode 1. They had no clue whence came the
\nwater that flooded the Valley Beyond and it
\nwas a mystery to them how it could even be
\npossible. That strongly suggests the water
\nflowed through (or from) a structure hidden
\nunderground.<\/p>\n

If Bernard’s mind picks up an uninvited
\npassenger while in the Forge, like he picked
\nup Ford’s ghost in the Cradle simulation, it
\ncould be the AI in BernAIrd who chooses to
\nlay down at the water’s edge after the flooding.<\/p>\n

At the beginning of the scene that ended with
\nBernard revealing to Strand the sector 16
\nzone 4 location of Peter Abernathy’s control
\nunit, a technician says Bernard’s mind
\nappears to be struggling to rewrite itself,
\nand the tablet indicates his mind has a lot
\nof fragmentation. For awhile we assumed the
\ntechnician meant a struggle between Bernard
\nand Ford’s ghost, but Bernard may have
\nsuccessfully deleted Ford’s ghost in
\n“Vanishing Point” and the struggle could be
\nBernard versus the Passenger from the Forge.<\/p>\n

When you say “stalling the humans this entire
\nseason” it sounds like you might mean more of
\nthe season than just the scenes with Strand
\net al, between the time when they found
\nBernard at the edge of the flood until they
\ndiscovered he’s a host who can be ordered not
\nto stall by saying the magic word ‘analysis.’
\n(Assuming he hasn’t found a way to be
\ndeceptive while in analysis mode.) I don’t
\nrecall any pre-flood scenes in which Bernard
\nappeared to stall anyone, but perhaps I just
\nwasn’t paying enough attention. This season
\nBernard certainly hasn’t been candid with
\nanyone (except possibly Ford), but my
\nimpression is that his motivations not to be
\ncandid haven’t been constant… keeping his
\nHost-ness secret was important to him until
\nhe was outed. He appeared to come close to
\nconfessing something when Strand accused
\nStubbs of being a corporate spy and murdering
\nTheresa, but he was interrupted so we don’t
\nknow what he would have said.<\/p>\n
