I changed my mind about the Emily killed by
\nthe Man in Black being a Forged Emily. Emily
\ntold him Juliet left his profile card for
\nher, and that appears to be the truth
\nassuming the reliability of the flashback
\nthat showed Juliet placing the card in the
\nballerina music box. However, a Forged Emily
\nwould have no obvious way to know Juliet ever
\nhad the profile card, because the real Emily
\nhadn’t visited the park in years.
\nUnfortunately, Emily’s humanity means her
\nincredible pistol marksmanship is implausible
\nand too convenient, and thus bad writing.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, a Forged Emily could know
\nabout the profile card if the real Emily’s
\nvisit to RajWorld lasted long enough to have
\nher memories copied (by a hat scanner or
\nwhatever) and then quickly constructed into a
\nnew control unit. Perhaps the nutritious
\nparts of the real Emily ended up in the
\nstomach of the Bengal tiger. Perhaps the
\nprofile card in dead Emily’s hand was a
\nduplicate cleverly supplied by Ford. I don’t
\nbelieve any of this, though, because there’s
\nno reason why the Forged Emily should have
\nbeen introduced dressed in the same clothes
\nthe real Emily had been wearing when she
\nencountered the tiger, or had to drag herself
\nfrom the river into the path of a Ghost
\nNation brave. If it was a Forged Emily who
\nwas killed by the Man in Black, she would
\nhave been introduced either in RajWorld
\nbefore the encounter with the tiger, or in
\nWestworld after the real Emily escaped from
\nGhost Nation.<\/p>\n

I’ve two possible explanations of how Emily
\nfound the Man in Black so quickly. One is
\nwith the assistance of the journal she
\nstudied in RajWorld. From it she might have
\nlearned his typical travel habits, and
\ndeduced the path he might follow if his goal
\nwas to destroy the project. I’m unsure when
\nshe would have first learned his goal was to
\ndestroy the project, but she could have
\nlearned it very early if Ford’s ghost told
\nher. The other explanation is simpler:
\nFord’s ghost guided her to the Man in Black.
\nIf the journal and\/or Ford were involved, she
\nmight have thought it unwise to reveal that
\nwhen the Man in Black asked her to explain
\nhow she found him.<\/p>\n
