You don’t need big, powerful lasers to send very high-bandwidth signals, you only need lots of power for distance, lasers as powerful as those seemed to be could easily go to another star system. Not sure what to make of that, might be worth keeping in your back pocket in case it comes in handy. How could Delores possibly know of someplace that would take the data and do something she wanted them to do with it? <\/p>\n

Plus, they seemed to say they could record a human mind in 10K or so lines of code, and that’s ludicrous. Maybe you could shrink the code that programs for behaviour down that far, but what about memories? I have a crap memory but you couldn’t program what I remember from yesterday in 10K lines of code. what good is a fantastic information processor like a human brain if it ain’t got data to process? We interpret everything we experience by the expectations we have based on our past experiences, our memories. What if the epilogue was Emily doing what she said to Akecheta about William suffering for more and far longer with what she was going to do with him? <\/p>\n
