This is Jack, long time listener of your podcasts. I’ve even written in before for GoT and Westworld. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this season of TD, more than season two and in some ways more than season one. As always, you guys have done a great job with the cast. <\/p>\n

I found it really interesting how the show directly addressed all the parallels between this season and the first when Hays was being interviewed this episode. Showing the article on the computer while discussing child abduction, pedophile rings and abuse at the hands of people in power was almost like a fourth wall break. In that moment I felt like the show was saying “pay attention to these similarities, are you sure about them?” <\/p>\n

I predicted (to my girlfriend) in episode two that Hoyt may be after a replacement for his granddaughter. We learned early that she had died as a child, it seemed to me a possible motive. After learning about Hoyt’s daughter, Isabelle, it seems likely that she donned the brown Mercedes and ghost costume (along with June\/Watts, her caretaker) to find a look alike for her own deceased daughter. Hoyt facilitated it so his family could be whole and the show set us up to think they were using her sexually, when in reality it was more personal. <\/p>\n

I did not expect the show to address Rust and Marty beyond the brief picture we saw a few episodes ago. It made me realize that there must be something deeper because all though child abuse and pedophelia are recurring themes for this show, the mystery has been more nuanced this season specifically. The “fourth wall break” element of the interview did however give me a reason to pause and consider just how involved the AG has been with the Purcell case. Seems like he’s there at every moment something goes wrong just to say “let’s end it now and move on”. Could be total tin foil but who knows. <\/p>\n
