Got me thinking of the Tomato tree, when tomatoes were first bought back to Europe in the 1700s they soon got a reputation of being poisonous, as aristocrats got sick and died after eating them, it is now known that tomato juices reacted with the pewter plates, which wealthy Europeans used to serve them, were high in lead content.
