James Delos’ 149th Build

Guys,

I really like the idea of the 149th build being successful. You guys brought this up on the Deep Dive. Like Big D said, Ford sent Bernard to destroy all of the hardware and print a new control unit. Who could it be? I believe Ford had an idea of what Charlotte and the Board wanted to accomplish and felt that he needed William to stop them. Perhaps, he constructed a hybrid of William. This would explain why Theresa was not aware that the Board had already sent a representative. Perhaps, the human William wasn’t coming to the Gala. So, Ford built one. Or maybe, the William in the park now is human. If so, perhaps Ford simply wanted a back up, in case William didn’t want to stop Charlotte and the Board, or if he was killed trying to do so.

It makes sense that Ford would be behind it all. Ford programmed Bernard to stop Elsie in Season 1. So, he almost certainly made Bernard take Elsie to the lab and chain her up there. Elsie was too capable and too innocent to kill. But, too dangerous to let roam free. I hear opinions that Elsie would not be important enough to deserve Ford’s attention. I beg to differ. With everything we’ve seen to date, Elsie seems to now be the human, with the most knowledge of the workings of the hosts. Maybe, I’m forgetting some. But, I cannot think of a living human in the show, with a better understanding of how the hosts work. As far as I can tell, we had Ford at the top. Ford’s right hand man, Bernard. And, Bernard’s right hand woman, Elsie.

I think everything we see around the 149th build’s timeframe in the lab, all falls within the present day timeframe. This seems to be consistent with what we have seen thus far. Unless singled out by including a younger CGI Anthony Hopkins or a younger William, everything shown behind the scenes at the park, is in the present day timeframe. For clarity by present day I mean, MiB’s and the Mesa timeframe in Season 1, through the Gala, and the two week span in Season 2. Assuming this, it would make sense that, as soon as Bernard chains up Elsie at the lab passed out, he would then go into the lab and pocket the control unit. This probably pisses off the drone hosts. This would explain why Bernard is scared of them, but doesn’t remember them, when he encounters the drones later with Charlotte. So, Bernard then commands the drones to kill the humans, destroy everything in the lab, and then kill themselves. Even though we see Bernard apparently killing a human during the assault on the lab, I want to point out that this could have taken place after Theresa’s death. So, Ford may have been telling Bernard the truth, when Ford told Bernard, that he never made Bernard hurt anyone else, like he did Theresa. Although Ford likely did later, the prick.

So, Ford made Bernard incapacitate Elsie and chain her up at the lab. Bernard then goes into the lab, grabs a control unit and destroys everything. Perhaps, the Delos hybrid never lured the tech into his enclosure. Maybe, Bernard forced the tech into it. Regardless, all the humans in the lab are dead and the technology is very hush-hush. Bernard then likely brings the control unit to Ford, so he can construct a successful hybrid, on the 150th attempt. Later, but before Dolores kills Ford, Ford made sure that, Clementine would eventually take Bernard back to the lab, also ensuring she would leave Bernard with a rifle, for him to free Elsie. In doing this Ford likely assumed, Elsie would be capable enough to figure everything out and even repair Bernard if necessary. Hoping that she would want to stop Charlotte as well.

I feel William being a host or hybrid would explain one of the questions, I proposed in my recent voicemail. If the William we see in Westworld is a host or hybrid that would explain for me, how he is able to keep playing the same game, with the same style, flair, and enthusiasm for over 30 years. If true, this could provide Joy and Nolan with an Ace up their sleeve for later. While I haven’t invested too much time in thinking it through, it seems to check out logistically.

Lastly, I have been using this assumption for a while now and I feel it hasn’t hurt me yet, Ford knows all. Ford tells us he is God on multiple occasions. To quote one of my favorite lines from the movie Half Baked, I believe him, yo. I don’t know why, but I do. I’d love to hear any thoughts. Keep up the exceptional work!
