Daddy Delos Call Back To Season 1 Episode 6

Hey Guys.

I’m a big fan of the podcast, it makes waiting a whole week for the next episode to drop a lot more tolerable. I started listening to GOT last year and have been loving your guys’ take on Westworld but this is my first time writing in.

I’ve been going back and rewatching Season 1 and just finished Episode 6 last night. This is the episode when Mave is really coming fully into her consciousness and includes a scene when Felix is trying to convince her she is not real and that everything has been scripted, she merely follows her storyline. In order to prove this, he shows her the coding device thingmebob which lists what she is saying on the screen in the context she would usually say it. This realization causes her to start having a bit of a speech impediment and then she “breaks” and freezes. Felix is able to get her back up and running (apparently he is a much better coder than we all thought) BUT this scene was eerily similar to Delos reaction after he figures out that he is indeed a replica/hybrid host. You guys should go back and check it out, maybe there are clues there that I missed.

In addition, we know for the hosts to become sentient they have to experience pain which Big D mentioned on the podcast this week and to remember their past. Does it seems odd to anyone else that Delos Inc already has a method that seems to be working aka Westworld, yet they completely ignore the knowledge they have gained and try to create sentient hybrids in the sterile environment of a round glass room. In this environment Daddy Delos doesn’t seem to have anyone to interact with or much stimulation at all (except for his hand); it looks like the ubber rich version of solitary confinement which we know is a fast way to make any human loose their mind. If the researchers only knew a tiny bit about human phycology it seems like they would have opted for another way of running this experiment. And that completely ignores the fact that they are essentially already running A,B testing or a double blind experiment with Westworld being another “treatment” option.

One logical explanation to this oversight would be that Delos Inc. has no idea that the hosts of WW could become/are becoming sentient or of Arnolds theory of consciousness and Fords expansion on that theory. However, we know William witnessed Delores gaining sentience and the result of her getting rolled back. We also know that he wants the hosts to have some level of choice at the very least and its hard to imagine that his experince with Delores has nothing to do with that desire. Lastly, it seems highly likely that Ford is somehow involved, given that he sent Bernard to the secret facility to print another human consciousness and destroy everything. Soooo it doesn’t seem plausible that the problem is just the two branches of Delos Inc not sharing any information. What do you think, are there other plausible explanations?
