A Few Thoughts After S8 E4 & Predictions For S8 E5

Hey, guys!

I really didn’t know how to structure my thoughts, they are just a little all over the place so I’ve chosen to do it by character, so bear with me.

Daenerys: The writers seem to be steering us towards the mad queen storyline for good. It’s all on Emilia Clarke’s face after Missandei’s head is chopped off. Oh, and dracarys, Missandei says dracarys as her last words. You can also catch it earlier in the episode when Tormund is drunkenly praising Jon: “What kind of person climbs on a fucking dragon? A madman or a king!” So, I guess this is the path they have chosen for her. But it’s funny, isn’t it? Her advisors, whom are constantly screwing up, are questioning if she is the right person for the job. Even though she has been pretty much ignoring her instincts, choosing, instead, to follow their advice. To think that if with her three full-grown dragons she had burned the Red Keep the minute she arrived in Westeros she would have already been sitting on the Iron Throne for a cool minute now. She should have been a dragon like Lady Olenna suggested in season seven. But sure, it’s her competency that is being questioned. Give me a break. So, let’s take a look at her two advisors…

Tyrion: It ain’t no secret that he has been on a severe losing streak. He failed in Mereen, failed with his initial invasion plan for Westeros, came up with Dumb Plan™ for the beyond the Wall expedition, and then trusted Cersei (the woman who blew up the Sept of Baelor) to keep her word. We can also give him partial credit for failing to suggest leaving a number of soldiers with the task of guarding Dragonstone. And lastly, and perhaps more embarrassingly, my man didn’t even come up with suggestion to legitimize Gendry. The lay-ups of all lay-ups! Where is the shame lady when you need her?!

Varys: But what about the eunuch, the master of whispers? Well, Daenerys’ spymaster apparently had no intel on Euron and the Iron Fleet and the fact that they have been waiting to ambush them once they return to Dragonstone. Acquiring intel is his only job and he can barely manage, but now he wants to commit treason? The gall of this man! It seems to me that he just wants a monarch that is disinterested in ruling so that advisors like him can accumulate power more easily.

Oh boy, Qyburn is running circles on them and it’s not even close.

But whatever, let’s turn our attention to the northerners.

Sansa: Is it just me or has the lady of Winterfell turned into an ungrateful bitch? Honestly, she is turning out to be a mini Littlefinger with a bit of Cersei on the side. Her decision to tell Tyrion is such a violation of Jon’s trust. And for what? The north is under no threat from Daenerys. She just wants to play the game and stir shit up, unnecessarily. Any amount of sympathy I had for this character has vanished.

Jon: PET YOUR GODDAMN MYTHICAL BEAST GOODBYE YOU MONSTER. Also, don’t tell your big secret to your spiteful relative that has never really liked you.

Predictions:
1. Daenerys will rain fire on King’s Landing, and we’ll finally see Drogon’s shadow flying over the city like we saw in Bran’s vision a coupe of seasons ago. 2. Varys will probably get burned alive by Daenerys. Just as she promised him if he were to betray her. 3. Daenerys will die.

Sincerely,

-Armando from Puerto Rico
