This locked the hosts into a state where they could not progress because they could not access memories, but they were still making memories. The James Delos host couldn’t work, because it lacked the reverie code which only Ford could access. The key to transferring a human into a host would be a host like James Delos, with reveries. Therefore, the brain pearl that Bernard was creating was a completed, reverie version, of a human. I think the human in question, is William, the young William.
