Game Of Thrones Theory S8 E2

Hey Guys –

Bare with me here as I have a seemingly far fetched theory regarding Bran and his ultimate plan to even the odds in defeating the Night King.

I believe that the old friend Bran was waiting for is not an old friend of Bran’s at all but instead an old friend of the Three Eyed Raven since that is who Bran has fully become. That old friend, who has targeted many Three Eye Ravens in the past, is none other than the Night King. Bran knows the Night King will come for him as he’s come for the Three Eye Ravens in the past and Bran is setting a trap. I believe Bran’s intention is for the Night King to kill him knowing he will be brought back to life by the returning Melisandre which would complete her prophetic and cryptic comment to Varys as she is banished and leaving for Volantis at the end of season 6 in which she says “I will return dear spider. One last time. I have to die in this strange country, just like you.”

After Melisandre brings Bran back from the dead Bran will now have the ability to warg into the dead having crossed over to the realm of death which opens up this new gateway for his warg ability. He then will use his new ability to warg into the generals in the Night Kings army to get close to the other generals and kill them which would effectively destroy all the wights that particular general created. He may possibly even be able to warg and attempt to manipulate Viserion as well. I believe this is why he gives a silent and purposeful nod when Theon says he will protect Bran while he’s baiting the Night King at Godswood. Bran knows Theon won’t be able to defend him against the Night King. Bran needs Theon to fail so the Night King can kill him and he can be brought back with his new warg ability. For Theon, dying protecting Bran will also bring his story full circle and complete his redemption.

So there you have it. That’s my Bran theory. Love the show fellas, keep up the amazing work and here’s to the final episodes of one of the most well executed series in television. It’s been an a hell of a ride.
