The first Telegraph for 2×08 mentioned the maze and whiskey bottle being left on the bar and you were speculating what it meant. If you go back and look at 1×10 Bernard is drinking from that same whiskey bottle and staring at the maze toy thinking about his son Charlie right before he forces Dolores to kill him. I think he probably left the maze on the bar for Ford to find, because 34 years later he buries it in Dolores grave. I assume Atecheka finding it was just a happy accident.
