Just my thoughts after listening to your last podcast…

Putting Sam on a “to die list” might be an underestimation of this character. I believe he will be the one to help to defeat the Others, either by killing them, or (more likely) by curing them. Sam’s secret weapon is his drive to learn and utilization of what he’s learned. He’s already shown us some skills by curing grayscale and killing the first white walker. Don’t forget, he took a bunch of books from the Citadel. I don’t think he intends on not at least looking through them to find a way to end this war (I’m pretty sure fighting an army of some 100 white walkers is not going to have a happy ending on the battlefield). And Sam… well… he just might end up writing down the story of Jon Snow for the generations to come after all of this is over.
