Lyanna Mormont Kicked Ass

Hey guys!

Nice to finally be able to hear your thoughts on GoT too!

I just need to correct you on the cold opens. This was the fourth on the show. There was the pilot episode, with the Night’s Watch rangers going beyond the Wall to find that the White Walkers had returned. Then there was the Season 5 premiere with the Cersei visiting Maggy the Frog to find out about her future. Then Season 6 episode 7, when we find out that the Hound is still alive (and hanging out with Odin, who is a septon of the Seven. wait, what?). And now this one. But yeah, they are indeed pretty rare!

The shot with the army of the dead was gorgeously creepy. Lyanna kicked ass as usual (Brienne looked like she wanted to adopt her).

The Ed Sheeran cameo didn’t bother me. The scene was a good one, in fact, maybe shedding some perspective on Arya’s killing spree. Also, she’s an assassin, but one with perspective; in Season 2 she wanted Jaqen to kill some little fish for her, then later she came to her senses and saw that she should have asked for Tywin instead of The Tickler. And it was nice (albeit bittersweet) knowing that she’s headed to King’s Landing instead of Winterfell. No Stark family reunion, dammit.

The Hound OWNED every scene he was in. One of the best character developments of the whole series.

Euron Greyjoy‘s scene was a well written one. I loved his one-liners, but it’s a little out of character for someone who is so power mad to “settle” with Cersei, who is Queen of Fewer than Seven Kingdoms.

And the final speechless scene with Daenerys was a masterpiece. So much conveyed with no words at all. And Dragonstone looks so bloody badass! Game of Thrones is truly the best thing on TV.

Can’t wait to hear the other podcasts later this week.

Cheers!
