In “Stormborn,” we see Daenerys’s war council debate the best strategy to take the Iron Throne.

Tyrion’s plan is not wholly unsound at this point – take Casterly Rock using the Unsullied, demoralizing support for the Lannisters, and have Dorne and Reach troops siege King’s Landing, surrounding Queen Cersei from all sides and giving her no where to escape.

With the defeat of her Greyjoy fleet, capture of Yara and Ellaria, both whom will serve as valuable hostages to keep their peoples in check, Daenerys must rely on Reach forces to siege the capital and Unsullied troops to take Casterly Rock.

If either fails, maybe both if the Lannister lucky streak continues, I think Daenerys will choose to be a dragon, as Olenna suggests.

Daenerys’s arc is about a timid girl transforming into a Khaleesi and ruling as a Queen, before realizing that she needs to follow the path of her ancestors – as a Conqueror.
