Cersei Pregnant? Really?

When Cersei revealed she is with child on this week’s episode of Game of Thrones. I was instantly skeptical. My theory is Cersei invented this pregnancy in order to maintain Jamie’s loyalty, at a time he wants to give up fighting for House Lannister. The reason I believe this baby is a ruse stems from Maggy the woods witch predictions at the beginning of season five. The prophecy has been fulfilled up to this point and I believe it will continue to be. When Cersei asked if she and the king would have any children, Maggy revealed how many each would have individually – Cersei three and the king twenty. The woods witch also predicted she would die at the hands of the valonqar or “little brother”. We’ve come to believe this refers to Jamie. If Jamie and Cersei were to produce a child or if Cersei were pregnant, I doubt Jamie would be able to fulfill this prophecy. Jamie has always followed a pretty accurate moral compass – except when it comes to protecting Cersei. I believe he will come to an impasse, where her death would be for the good of the realm. While is decision would be near impossible for Jamie to make, I believe he could never follow through if a child were involved. His love for and desire to protect his family would be too great.
