Daenerys’s Misstep

Have a Theory? Share It Now!
The moment that Dany made Gendry a true Baratheon was great TV, but possibly a huge misstep by Dany. She unwitting now gave Gendry a true claim at the throne. As a bastard, he had no rightful claim to the throne, buttttttt as a Baratheon and eldest child of Robert Baratheon, he is the rightful heir to the throne. The people of King’s Landing are still faithful to the Baratheon name, savior from the mad king.
This theory would also explain the somewhat awkward scene of Gendry expressing his love for Arya and asking her to marry him and serve as the lady of Storm’s End. Would anyone expect Arya to live out her days as the lady of Storm’s End? What about as queen of the seven kingdoms? You pair up the Baratheon name with the SAVIOR OF MAN, you have the occupants of the throne at the end of the television series.

Thank you guys for reading my email on the podcast as I also proposed this theory. My prediction and I believe Chris’ is the same in this regard was that Dany wins the war but dies in the process. In that case she will never technically be queen but as the one who came and unseated Cersei I think her legitimizing Gendry will still be recognized.
I like it! And what if Dany and Jon fail? Will Gendry’s claim still stand? Would anyone support him in a bid for the throne? Would Cersei’s victory be final?
