Does Maeve Prove That Ford Was A Host?

I was re watching this week’s episode and Maeve’s mind control trick reminded me of Ford and his ability to control vast number of hosts with a word or the simple movement of a finger. Now that we know about the mesh network it would seem logical to deduce that Ford, like Maeve, must have been tapped into that network to control the hosts around him.

I can think of two ways that Ford could tap into the network like that

1. Ford had an implant or some wearable device that allowed him to access the network 2. Ford was a host and therefore was part of the network

Option one is no fun so I’m leaning towards thinking that Ford was himself a host. Does this confirm the, what I thought was ridiculous until now, theory that Ford is still alive some where, or could Ford have died years ago and we’ve only seen a host or hybrid host in action this whole time.
