Dresden and The Burning of Kings Landing

When I watched the burning of King’s landing by Daenerys it was hard not to think of the bombing of Dresden at the end of WW2. Like Kings Landing (after the city rang the bell in surrender) Dresden had no military value and many thousands of civilians were killed.
Was Daenerys the mad queen? Was Churchhill the mad king?
No Churchill, like Daenerys, had survived many apocalyptic battles and this is just what victors do at the end of wars.
