Emily Is Williams Greatest Mistake

Hi guys,

My wife’s been listening to your podcast regularly and we’ve come up with a theory to explain several elements of the new season. We wonder what you think:

The mystery woman at the beginning of episode 3 is the MIB/William’s daughter Emily, as many are speculating. The greatest mistake that the MIB sets off with Lawrence to fix at the end of episode 2 at the outer reaches of the park isn’t some wayward technology its Emily, his estranged relationship with his daughter, which season 1 revealed to be his greatest personal regret. He knows she’s hanging out in The Raj and is setting out to find her and repair his relationship. The door may just be a passage into the neighboring park.

But here’s the kicker: Robert Ford knew that the MIB’s daughter is his sorest personal point. The final game with real stakes that Ford has created for the MIB is to save his own daughter’s life from Dolores, who will kill her (and whose original romance with the younger William is what set William on his path of estrangement from his family in the first place).

The ghost nation won’t hurt Emily. In fact we haven’t seen them be able to hurt anybody, as you guys notes. They’re just harmlessly collecting her as part of Ford’s final narrative (as I believe they are collecting various other humans for safe keeping for other unknown plot reasons; see Stubbs and also the request made for Lee Sizemore).

Now both Delores and the MIB are hunting for Emily (Dolores being the only host who can shoot the ghost nation and someone who would gladly relieve them of a human captive were she to come upon them) and the MIB has to get to her before Dolores does.

Saving his daughter and overcoming his obsession with Dolores is the final game that IS meant for William and will allow him to truly find himself.

Of course, all of this depends on Grace actually being Emily. Maybe we’ll find out in Episode 4!
