Game of Thrones Theory No Spoilers, Just Ideas

Hi Guys,

First off I just wanted to say thanks for all the different podcasts that you produce. They provide a lot of entertainment and laughter to my day!

Now for GOT theory time. One part that stood out to me was a conversation between Yara and Theon about how Danny might need a spot to fall back to should things in the north not go well. The reason that this stood out to me was because it could provide a good way to have all the conflicts resolve in a single battle or at least in the same location (similar to Hobbit battle of the 5 armies, but less crappy love triangle…). A few things would have to occur for this to happen.

1) Yara would somehow have to capture back the Iron fleet back from her uncle Euron. I feel like part of the reason why the freed her so early could be so that this confrontation could happen soon enough to provide a way for the Northerners to escape the nights king.

2) The battle for Winterfell would have to end badly for the armies of the north. This is somewhat hinted at in the various trailers where it looks like parts of the castle might be on fire and certain areas abandoned. (One of the teaser trailers showed the entire castle dead, with parts of Bran’s chair sprawled on the floor).

3) The northerners could potentially retreat to white harbor to escape to the ships provided by Yara (at least by boat it would avoid as much of a jet packing issue as them on foot). By water they could presumably return to either dragonstone or Pike. The army of the dead would then have to head down south by land which would take more time. Maybe a valiant group of fighters holds off the army of the dead, maybe the Unsulied or a group of northerners that refuse to leave.

4) With the escape the northern armies, they could regroup and rally near kings landing to try and engage Cersi, and the Lanisters and golden company. This could lead to an epic battle of the living and then the dead could finally arrive and we could see a large scale battle for all the marbles.

I would love to see what you guys think of the idea or the possibility of a more centralized final battle. It just seems odd to me that they could potentially wrap things up in the north with some major characters dying only for them to head south and then fight Cersi.

Any way keep up the good work guys!

Best,

Mike M from Connecticut.
