Game of Thrones Write In

Have a Theory? Share It Now!

Hey Guys,

First off great podcast – I think the best GOT podcast out there.

Thinking about what I think Big D said with Euron and Jamie – I think ultimately the show is destined to disappoint a large portion of its audience. The number of theories, hopes, and expectations are too diverse for the show to please everyone. The show does not have a responsibility to confirm, did Nite or even address all of the theories out there like how Cersei Lannister will die (I.e Arya or Jamie). It’s very difficult to give proper closure to characters, for example the way Tormund And sam leave the show are in my opinion very weak. They just say goodbye and that’s seemingly the last we’re ever going to see of them after having watch them for eight seasons. So while it might have been cliché to have Jamie fight Uron, People did in fact want to see that and want to get that closure while other people wanted it to be kept extremely realistic so I think the show is in a tough place and I wonder how they’re going to reconcile all of these different expectations.

In terms of not feeling anything for the characters when they die – I think a big part of that is that it happens in the heat of battle. Think about when Ned, Cat, Joffrey die – it’s surprising and slow. During battle, it’s obviously less surprising and it can’t be as slow. I do think the show is extremely fast paced this season, maybe too fast but I think that’s a way that they are keeping it nor realistic for those who want that. Many I imagine expected a close up cut to the hound before he hit the fire but we didn’t get it. Or for Jamie to kill Uron but Uron basically killed him too. Many expect an elaborate death for Cersei and they say no, this is war and she’s become just like everyone else, afraid and alone and so she’ll die like everyone else.

Ultimately the show can’t please everyone because how great it is. There is a fine line between the reality aspect and the closure, end of an era something that will move people aspect.

What are your thoughts on this dilemma?

Thank you,
Jamie (Kingslayer)
