GOT Alternate Scenes / Ending

Have a Theory? Share It Now!

Hey Guys,

I wanted to add a few things that are implied in my take, but weren’t fleshed out very well due to maybe the word limit (or my shitty no-review 5-minute attempt to get something out):

– It’s implied that there’s more to Vary’s letter than ‘Hey, Jon’s the actual king’. Perhaps in the preceding paragraphs, he details his fear of Danny roasting King’s Landing. When Sansa receives this (and vis a vis Bran’s warg action), she immediately understands a vacuum will be created by this destruction, so begins organizing the high lords to rally at the kingsmoot. This would explain how everyone got there (en masse) so fast w/ the time jump. Also, obviously word of a mobilization of that magnitude would get out, so put a pause on Grey Worm and the Dothraki/Unsullied just merk’ing everyone (including Tyrion) because they know they’d never make it out of Westeros alive. In this way, Varys’ last act really does help save the realm, which is what he’s been about all the time

– Bran can see into the future in bits and pieces, but it’s not a total future, more like prophecies and possible futures. Also, since he’s still young, it’s hard for him to distinguish with certainty what is actual future (no free will, we can’t change it future) vs. prophecy (here’s how things may turn out unless we change, and maybe even then who knows). In his future seeing, he actually believes Jon should and would be the best king. That’s why he does all his conniving with Sansa et. al on Jon’s true heritage because he wants Jon to be king (and he’s seen that that’s what will work out best). This is the main reason why he tries to warg into Drogon to stop Jon. Yes also because Jon is his brother, but mainly because now – according to Bran’s understanding – Jon is attempting to alter the best possible future with his suicide. However, he’s not powerful enough to stop Jon because, let’s face it, warg’ing into a full-grown pissed off dragon is a little hard, and so Jon dies. This then would also explain Bran’s “why did you think I came all this way?” comment, because now Bran understands that, a) the future is still yet to be written (even if we can only get glimpses of it, which is what he can at best now), and b) without Jon, he really is the next best choice given his powers and circumstance

– Everyone in the audience feels for Ghost and why not? That’s one of the reason’s why I let the last scene be of him and Tormund going north (who knows, throw in some raven viewed panoramic flight shots or something), because as trite as it may be, ain’t nothing as touching as a sad relationship between a boy and his dog (I’m looking at you Old Yeller and Where the Red Fern Grows), so why not use it in a bittersweet fashion to a show that never promised happy endings, just endings.
