GOT – Battle Plan For King’s Landing

Guys,

I have high hopes for the Battle of King’s Landing but the tactical WTF of Winterfell has me concerned. I hope they come up with a battle that makes sense, but if not, here’s a plot I think would be really cool and hit all the buttons. Let me know what you think.

My Key Points:

Dany is not the Mad Queen but is struggling in a new land and battles with peers Dany doesn’t die
Sansa telling Tyrion sets Varys in motion
Jon dies preventing the plot Varys unleashes

Drogon is an air superiority asset neutralized by the Scorpions all over the walls of King’s Landing. The counter to this would be night operations flying in the dark on a Black dragon. Imagine the tension of laying siege and calling of the air strike repeatedly until the right weather hits (a la D Day). Dany flies a sortie and takes out a couple of Scorpion clusters. Team Dany high fives but on the second night Cersei places woman and children around the remaining Scorpions and Dany pulls off. When she returns she explain the situation, and Tyrion casts the “I told you so” side eye at Varys. Maybe Dany has what it takes to lead the realm. But! Varys already had a plan in place to take out Dany and the assassin (Agent X) makes the move in grand fashion but John takes the arrow or knife dying in Dany’s arms. Tyrion dimes out Varys and he gets the Dracarys treatment for treason. The siege continues since Dany won’t burn civilians to get the last of the Scorpions so pressure has to be applied. Using Tyrion’s knowledge of the castle, Team Dany shuts of water or sewage. The city is hot, stinks, not clean, and people are starving. Cue unrest and rebellion which Cersei begins to put down by force. Maybe she uses wildfire on a crowd. Now, Cersei is indeed the true mad queen and action must be taken to save the people. People may die in a direct dragon assault but it’s less than if they let Cersei continue killing. Dany attacks the Red Keep and Lannister forces forcing the Golden Company and Lannister army into battle. Battle ensues, Drogon switches between burning the Red Keep trying to get Cersei and providing close air support. The remaining Scorpions get taken out somehow by a strike team and turned on the Red Keep. During battle Jamie Lannister gets in and Cersei soft for Bae lets him close and Jaime goes from the King Slayer to Queen Slayer. Sandor and Gregor have CleganeBowl, Sandor wins but dies from wounds. Dany sits the Iron Throne in the end but it is bittersweet because John is dead. Sansa learns of it and knows she’s responsible. And for super bonus bucks, what if Arya is the assassin hired by Varys and in going for Dany kills John with a thrust of Needle, heart broken, kills herself.

It won’t happen but it flips the Dany is the Mad Queen path on its head, shows that all the plotting scheming is the wheel to be broken, and buttons everything up with as nice a bow as can be made of GRRM not finishing the books.

Hopefully you enjoy the concept, my hearts racing a little bit just outlining it. I can imagine the terror of Drogon night flights, the tension of the siege, and chaos of the battle.
