GOT Finale

Have a Theory? Share It Now!

Hi friends,

I didn’t much buy into any of the negative feelings about these last two seasons, but the finale did me in! I guess any scenario for the last episode would have left me kinda sad. And I know that there’s no way they could have made everyone happy, but truth be told, I feel genuinely dissatisfied.

Yeah, it was quite rushed. I understand that they had to make do with the time they had left, but they probably could have cut out a little bit of Dany’s King’s Landing bbq in order to save some room for all around closure.

Also, some things felt unexplained. Like, seriously, Greyworm should have speared Jon. Or beheaded him like Ned. And it should have been shown to us, in true bloody GOT fashion. I love Jon, but Greyworm, a relentless warrior, had lost everything he ever valued in a matter of days and his rage was palpable.

Daenerys was my queen! I know you guys didn’t really care for her, but to me she represented a strong-ass woman who overcame adversity and patriarchy, and rose to the top. And I fucking love the dragons. Dany felt like the clearest answer for peace and justice in Westeros for me, for a long time! Then, in just two episodes–maybe three–we suddenly see her flip into extreme madness. It felt very sudden and depressing to me. I never thought she was a brutal queen before season 8. I thought she was assertive and that her refusal to back down was necessary for a young woman to hold power. I’ll be grieving her loss of touch with humanity, and her murder, for a while. I didn’t realize how badly I wanted a good ending for her until the ending came. Maybe I’ll feel better about it all after some time has passed.

Bran ends up king? Ugh, it just feels so hollow. Bran doesn’t care about anything or anyone. There’s zero passion to his character and he’s always bored me. But whatever, I guess it could have ended up worse.

Peace be with you guys!
