Got S08e03 – The Long Night

Hi guys,

I don’t think there’s any real way to adequately sum up how The Long Night left us feeling here.

Drained
Horrified
Tense
Released
Awe struck

Nothing seems to do real justice to the overall staggering achievement of this episode.

Apart from the lighting, which drove me nuts by the way (not because it was bad, but because it lent everything such a vague feel it added to the fear and tension), the audio design was truly amazing.

In the entire 80 or 90 minutes there was possibly a couple of dozen lines of dialogue. But every one of them hit home with something exceptionally important.

The music and sound effects were had the precision focus of a laser, with the fully force of Mjolnir. If that be in the heat of open battle, or the muffled sounds heard in the crypt occasionally. Add to that the disturbing use of silence as Arya crept through the library.

I was expecting, before this final season started, that the Kings Landing story for the Iron Throne would be resolved first and that the battle with the Night King would be a resounding crescendo for the final season.

There are three episodes left… I don’t think any of the surviving main characters will take any shit at all from Cersei Lanister. And there’s still the Jon vs Daenerys contention to be resolved.

I don’t want it to end, but I really NEED to know (right now) what happens.
