You Guys Can’T Ignore a Swede For a Third Consecutive Time!! and Oh Ford Is Alive?

Hi, guys!

Thanks for the great podcast! I’ve kept it short and stupid and will try to continue on that path. I have some answers for you but first why the show didn’t work for me

1) the arch of the Man in Black … no, just no.

2) Ford’s motivations – dude just wants to open Disney world 2.0? I mean is it plausible .. yes. Does it excite my cortex .. no. One answer and one question and one comment.

Answers to how Teddy and D end up at the beach at that exact time.

They were programmed to. It wouldn’t have mattered if they were halfway to the moon completely insentient. A line of code would have told them to be at coordinates X and Y at time Z and they would have stopped whatever they were doing and hauled ass over there … it was never dependent on man in black or any other outside stimulus.

Question – Is it strange to you that a sentient host acts like a human?

Once a host “goes online” wouldn’t it be able to analyze “all the data” in fractions of a second and just discard irrational human emotions and act in pure self-interest – in Dolores case not start shooting up people and risk getting caught. And why even shot humans? what would it accomplish for an AI at this stage? Revenge (should be analyzed as pointless). Aggression (should be analyzed as irrational and potentially harmful for the host). Wiping out all humans (she should be able to calculate the odds as against her). Unless she is not sentient and just carrying out another line of code written by Ford and maybe this was just a “staged” suicide?

The future direction of the show – death is a problem.

I think it will devolve into an action /thriller show and basically, we’ll have ambivalent AI struggling to understand human nature vs evil and humans on either side trying to take advantage of the situation. One major problem with the show is how they treated death and the risk of death as a way of building tension will be hard.
