WESTWORLD SEASON 1Westworld’s co-founder Robert Ford implements a change in the hosts’ programming ostensibly as part of a new narrative for the park, but meant to encourage the park’s oldest operating host, Dolores, to find the proverbial “center of the maze”, which represents the ability to achieve sentience, Ford’s long-sought goal for the park. Other hosts are affected by this change, creating confusion among the park staff and guests, and leading the Delos board to doubt Ford’s ability to run the park. Dolores does ultimately gain sentience, and at a celebration within the park attended by Delos’s board members, Ford announces his new narrative: a revolt by the hosts against the human staff and park guests, which starts with Dolores killing Ford and slaughtering many of the panicked party guests. – Ep.01 “The Original“Ep.02 Chestnut“Ep.03 “The Stray“Ep.04 “Dissonance Theory“Ep.05 “Contrapasso“Ep.06 “The Adversary“Ep.07 “Trompe L’Oeil“Ep.08 “Trace Decay“Ep.09 “The Well-Tempered Clavier“Ep.10 “The Bicameral Mind“

Angela Is Way More Important To the Plot

Hey Guys, Angela is way more important to the plot than we are being led to believe. 3 host characters interact with humans and hosts on an admin-type level: Lawrence’s daughter, Akcheta and Angela. They are the only ones we’ve seen, so far, that can understand the difference between host...

The Bicameral Mind

Hey guys, My name is Seth, I’m a computer scientist from Texas. Really love the podcast, it’s greatly enhanced my Westworld experience in terms of keeping track of everything in the show as well as thinking about all the theories and ideas. In my opinion, one of the best parts...

My Own Theory

There Are Two Ways To BOOTSTRAP Consciousness

Hiya Hosts! Brothers Ben and Sam writing in again. Ford describes the bicameral mind model as “a WAY to bootstrap consciousness.” The wording here seems to imply that there may be other ways to bootstrap consciousness. I think there are 2 ways to “bootstrap” consciousness. 1) the bicameral mind (with...

Conjecture About MIB

Hi again guys! About the remembering and misremembering thing. I think you have it all way backwards. Human memory is imperfect, the show has hammered it home in S1E8 Trace Decay when Felix tells Maeve: “Your mind isn’t like ours,” Felix tells Maeve early on in the episode. “When we...

Westworld – Teddy And Bernard

Hi everyone, Justin from Chicago here. New listener this season and I am really liking the podcasts. In this weeks instacast of “Akane no Mai” you discussed the possibility that Teddy’s control unit or “conscience” was transferred into Bernard. My immediate thought when seeing Bernard looking over the pile of...

The Oppressed Becomes The Oppressor
