I Finally Write To You

Hey Guys,

Writing this down as I’m listening to the podcast, a couple of observations. (sorry if this isn’t the most pleasurable English as I’m not a native speaker)

At this point I’m probably beating a dead horse, but Teddy being 1 of the 5 pearls doesn’t make sense for two kind of reasons: technical (uploading to the Sublime is a destructive process by design, the pearls become blank, it wasn’t necessary computer-science-wise but who built the Door designed it that way) and more importantly story-wise in terms of character arc (I guess I don’t need to explain why? Teddy made his choice and he’s done for.)

Another thing, you were puzzled as for why Hale in s01 needed to smuggle a whole host, maybe you missed that Halores manages to smuggle the 5 pearls because Stubbs clears her (because he’s either a host or a human who’s seen enough to jump on the hosts’ side), the writers obviously wanted to make a point of it because they knew people would have that objection, and also we’re in a messy emergency rescue situation, not comparable to a normal situation when Hale would need to resort to smuggling the pearl inside Abernathy.

About the ability to print pearls in the Arnold “xavier” mansion in real world, you do realize this would greatly diminish the meaningfulness of Halores carrying exactly 5 pearls with her? Their power as a narrative device is greatly downgraded, if you can print infinite pearls at home anyway. I really think and hope that only bodies can be printed at the mansion, otherwise the doors are open for infinite “deus ex machina”s for the coming seasons. Remember, we grew up into the IRREPLACEABLE phase of this story. (I hated that FreeBernard in real world was implied to be created off memory by Dolores because it throws a bit under the bus the irreplaceable thing, and I’m not sure on which “hardware” he was rewritten on, maybe a blank pearl of the 5? hell maybe Teddy’s former pearl, now blank? Again I’m assuming and hoping the basement machine can only print bodies, and Ford back in HIS secret basement would smuggle pearls from the actual pearl printer room when he needed pearls for clone Bernards). So to recap: Bernard’s pearl was actually left in dead Bernard in the forge, maybe pierced by the futuristic gun (different from old west guns that barely made a dent in Teddy’s unit) or maybe not; also this is useful because when Delos does clean up there’s not an unaccounted for Bernard host pearl (hey you know what, maybe all 5 pearls are blank freshly printed for this very reason of fooling Delos clean-up and Dolores is gonna program all 5 off memory or off human people of interest she read about in the Forge?).

Anyway if you say Halores is carrying Bernard in one of the 5 pearls (extracted after she shoots him point blank), that is mutually exclusive with him being programmed from scratch off Dolores memories of him and of Arnold. Why would she need to do that if she carried the actual Bernard pearl.

And by the way the end of Sizemore arc was P-E-R-F-E-C-T, I wanted to get up and cheer. (and it ties back to when Maeve commented that his narratives where about the man he would have liked to be, and guess what he now DOES GET to be thru an heroic act, and really are people gonna miss the point and say “that even bought them that many seconds” or “he would have bought more time by just surrendering”? geez)
