Ignorance is bliss is a famous saying, meaning that you can live in peace without knowing something that would cause you worry or pain.

The Man in Black is not searching for immortality.

The purposes of his investment in the park and its research is not to save his life.

He is searching for freedom – from his past, his bad decisions, his horrible choices, his terrible deeds.

Humans are products of our experiences.

We are weighted down by history, which greatly affects our ability to cope with our present and be positive about our future.

What if they aren’t trying to give people the ability to live forever, but instead, they are attempting to perfect the ability to live again, free from the past?

Almost every character in this show – both humans and hosts – are weighed heavily by what has come before.

The Host Jim Delos acts like a real human being, until he has that realization or is presented with the circumstances of his existence.

When that happens, a rush of emotion and experience disrupts his programming and caues him to glitch and malfunction

What would it be to be alive and free of that conflict?
