Instant Response a Little Unfair on Daenerys

Hello all,

just listened to your instant response to S7 E04 and I wanted to raise a point about the criticism of Daenerys taking Drogon low in response to seeing an arrow from Qyburn’s crossbow.

Unlike the audience, Daenerys hasn’t seen the crossbow fired at a low trajectory so wouldn’t immediately assume that the weapon could be reorientated to fire at that degree. Taking Drogon low is a logical response based on her level of knowledge.

We shouldn’t lose sight of the fact that Daenerys remains inexperienced at warfare so it reflects her character as does that she continued to be involved rather than fleeing from the battle after the first arrow. Daenerys has a bloodlust on her when her blood is up. So I found her actions during this scene very consistent.

The foreshadowing for a dragon being killed continues. The injury sustained in Mereen’s fighting pits in season 5, this injury now and my prediction is that an Ice Giant with a bow and arrow will kill one of the three dragons later. Daenerys knows that Kings Landing is armed with crossbows so will be more careful in future engagements with the Lannister alliance.

Having discovered you during Westworld where everyone shared the journey together, my experience of these podcasts on GoT is different because we all carry baggage to the series. Its a much more challenging experience and often find myself in disagreement with the comments being made. That’s the fun of a much more mature world.
