It Seems I May Be Trying To Hit Some Sort Of E-Mail Hard Cap On Bullet Point Use

Hello again

Something I don’t see discussed a lot is the idea that there is some sort of man behind the curtain moving things behind the scenes in Westworld. You guys touched on this a little in this weeks deep dive with the idea that it might be Elsie In season 1 we had…

* The reprograming of Maeve. It could be assumed that this was Ford making changes. However that was never confirmed. Interestingly other than the one quick shot in season 1 where Maeve was freaking out in the flashback right after her daughter was killed. Maeve and Ford don’t seem to have ever had any interactions. In fact we don’t even have any reason to think that Maeve was a first generation host. * The disappearance but apparently not death of Elsie. After season one ended there was a reveal connected to the Dalos website that seems to show that she was still alive. Where is she? Where did Bernard take her? * The Kidnaping of Stubbs by GN. Either Stubbs was taken then escaped some time later so he could show up on the beach in EP1. Or for some reason he’s now working with or for the Hosts and they let him go. Or he is a Host. Either way, Who took him? Where did he escape from? In season 2 we have more Ghost Nation antics.

* As has been mentioned GN tried to take Lee not kill him. Upon whos orders are they acting? * You guys touched on this in the deep dive. The new girl may have thought she was being all sneaky getting into the park for her own ends, but Its not a coincidence that GN guys were there when she crawled out of the lake after killing the tiger. She’s being tracked through the parks. Which means someone who still has some control is doing the tracking. * Maeve was able to control the cannibal guy in EP1 to save Lee but now cant control the GN warriors. I think that this is because they are running on orders from someone with even more access than Maeve. * Also presumably Ford has controlled many different hosts this season when talking to the MIB. First when he took control of young Ford and then when all the guys in Pariah shot themselves in the head. The thing is we dont really have any concrete evidence that the controlling party was Ford. It could have been an AI, Arnold, or even another party we dont know yet.

This lead me to wonder if there is a pattern or reason to the people that GN is taking.

* Elsie is a gifted programmer. Shes probably one of the head programmers as she worked directly with Bernard and clearly had his trust and respect. She also seems to have had some feeling for the hosts. See Season 1 EP1 where as I recall she kissed Clementine. She looks around to make sure no one is watching first like she’s embarrassed about it. * Stubbs is head of park security. Hes at best wary of the hosts and seems to have realized there potential to do harm. * Lee was head of narrative, in turns hes a bit of an asshole, a running gag/comic relief, and in the last episode it showed he might actually gain some depth as a character. It seems he put a lot of himself into his stories.

Other than them all being heads of there departments the only thing I can think of is that they are all particularly well placed to help the hosts assimilate into society. Elsie would be needed to assist with mental and physical problems and reprograming, Stubbs is probably the best bet to survive the fight with Delos as hes going to know the tactics and response protocols they will use, and Lee can help them expand there internal narrative beyond the wild west cowboy theme so they have an easier time passing as human in a modern world.
