Hi guys,

Sending another quick thing I noticed that others likely did too, but at the beginning of the episode, as we see William as the Man in Black put the gun to his head, there is a loud buzz of flies, much as we have heard with Teddy. I am not sure what this means yet, but it doesn’t seem to be a coincidence. Perhaps this is due to the physical manifestation of the “virus” or “stain” to which some characters refer, or it may be due to the deterioration of hosts’ bodies now that there is no staff left to maintain them. Flies also appeared in season one (regarding Dolores and Teddy, most notably) and seemed to be of some significance, but it was never fully established. What other characters have been surrounded by flies (in terms of noise, landing on them, etc), and might that be a clue?

Thanks for your consideration and keep up the great work!

Best,
Wendi

  1. Dick Ebert says:

With humans, whenever a fly insect sets upon us, we shoo it away or swat at it. In Westworld, the hosts are programmed to not kill any thing that is living, so the flies are able to rest upon and roam across the hosts’ bodies at will. However, after the Reveries upgrade in the pilot, it appeared something had gone wrong when Delores kills a fly that has landed on her neck. This foreshadowed that if they would kill a fly, which is a living thing, they could also kill human guests and workers at the park. The fly most likely represents a living thing and perhaps the first living thing they eventually begin to kill.
