Lovecraft Country Episode 7 Review: “I Am”

Lovecraft Country once again pushed the limits of representation, historical layering, trippy visuals, and empowerment when it told Hippolyta’s story in Episode 7: I am.

The Shat Crew dives deep into why Atticus went to St. Louis, where portals took Atticus and Hippolyta, the birthmark, Afrofuturism, Bessie Stringfield, Sun Ra, Josephine Baker, blood magic, outing Montrose, and more.

Listener mail heats up as fans abandon Shat on TV, defend the hosts, and beautifully highlight what they love about Lovecraft Country.

Lovecraft Country Episode 7 Summary:
Hippolyta’s relentless search for answers takes her on a multidimensional journey of self-discovery as Atticus heads to St. Louis to consult an old family friend.

Good Afternoon y’all. I just want to write you something positive while listening to your Lovecraft recap for I am.
I personally just discovered you because of this show and I appreciate that you do take the time look up information about what happened in the episodes that you are not aware of. People will always find something to stay regardless of all the effort you’ve put in to recap and get your podcast out in a timely matter.(because to be honest to truly deep dive would take way longer than a few days).
I appreciate the effort I can tell you put forward every week.
In my humble opinion out of some of the podcast for this show, I really enjoy yours as much as I do the HBO podcast.

So thank you and keep pushing,
    Mo
