Maeve’s Core Permissions

Hey guys,

I have a theory about what “unlocking core permissions” could mean regarding Ford and Maeve’s scene.

Many times in the show, they refer to a host’s “core code.” If you imagine the programming of a host from a Software Engineering perspective, there would probably be a Core Code that every host has – this core governs basic functions and maintains the instructions for how memory is constructed and how cognition is programmed, etc. This would be locked down and shouldn’t be altered. On top of that core, you would add layers like personality and narratives and backstories which are unique to each host and can be easily changed with a tablet.

When Ford is unlocking core permissions in Maeve, I believe he is unlocking her core code, giving her the access and ability change her essence as a host. A major step in evolution is when life itself begins taking its own evolution into its own hands. Humans do this when they start creating hosts and AI. Ford could be allowing Maeve to do this now, to take her own evolution into her own hands.

Thanks,
Seth

Interesting! I thought it was referring to core permissions in the park’s operation systems, but your idea makes more sense.
