Mainstream Media Might Lose Its Shit Over Ifrit Sex

Not left but WAY LEFT!

The Ifrit (Djinn) scene was the scene from the book that I new was going to be difficult to watch (even more than the Bilquis scene). I had to read it twice and I still didn’t “get it”. I really didn’t understand the sex with the djinn but here is my attempt to discern. Clearly the salesman was unhappy with his life in America, so I guess his wish was to do something “different”? I’m also assuming that the sex was his sacrifice to the djinn. This made me think that maybe this was the djinn’s way out as well, as you could see his “power” being inserted into Salim during the “cosmic climax”. This scene is exactly like it is described in the book but the book goes into more context as to why Salim is so unhappy. Even after reading the book AND watching the show, I still couldn’t figure out if Salim was gay or the sex was just the sacrifice that was required.

In any case, the rest of the episode was great. Shadow is slowly realizing how good a con man Wednesday really is and maybe he’ll figure out that he really does have the moon in his pocket!

I’m curious to see if mainstream media loses its collective shit over this episode.

Keep it up fellas!
