Thank you so much for reading my thoughts about the flies being a key to the timelines! If that is the case then the mini tower Maeve and Caleb experienced was a prototype for the skyscraper version. The flies were still being tested and developed in the Maeve & Caleb timeline as mentioned by halores at the senator’s home. Maybe halores is testing that any other sentient hosts (or versions of herself) won’t be able to detect these new updated versions. I know some of you don’t watch the previews so stop reading this part (it’s pretty clear they replace Caleb with a host that later turns on Maeve).

You spoke some about Bernard triggering variants and I believe Maeve was doing the same thing at Temperance. She was watching the events play out very closely for someone who had experienced it time and time again and wanted out..and she really didn’t want Caleb picking up Newlores’s can. On initial watch it seemed as if she was afraid he’d turn the same fate as William, but perhaps there is more to it.

Maybe Bernard is finishing what Maeve couldn’t, as Maeve would now be obsolete in comparison to the sublimified hosts.
