Hey Guys! I have a theory for you-

My boyfriend, Michael, and I were talking and he has a theory about season 8 episode 3. Twice in the series we’ve seen the use of misdirection in war. The first was by Rob Stark in the battle in the Whispering Wood where he scarified part of his army to serve as a distraction while taking the remainder of his men to defeat the Lannister army and capture Jamie Lannister. We see this again same tactic used by Jamie Lannister when he leaves Casterly Rock guarded by a small number of soldiers. While The Unsullied are attacking the castle and seem to be winning, Jamie order Euron Greyjoy to destroy their ships. He even says later that he got this plan based on what Rob did to him.

Keeping this in mind, we think that the Night King is doing the same thing leading up to episode 3 in season 8. We don’t see him yet this season on his ice dragon, instead we see the other 11 or so White Walkers ready for the battle of Winterfell. It would be so easy for the Night King to ride in and destroy the castle. BUT instead of being there to kill Bran himself, he is on his way to Kings Landing to strike there. Classic war misdirection.

We’d love to know what you think!
