One More Thing About Bran

Have a Theory? Share It Now!

sorry i know you hate multiple emails but this was a debate here in my office and we were all put to rest by the one coworker who read each book and all the other sub books and whatever.

Bran cannot see the future. He can see the past and he can see the present but cannot see the future. Never could. When he “saw” the knight king, he said “theyre coming” because he saw them marching towards the wall. Every other thing he has said since has been something about the past.

He is the living embodiment of that line that goes “those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it”. or however it goes, hes that in living form. He can see what others have done to fight the night king, he can go throughout time and see how others have fought the night king, but in no way is he plotting out how every scenario is going to end. He cannot advise them “if you do this then this will happen but if you do that this will happen” no, he can go back in time and see what worked before and try and hope that works this time, but i dont think he sat there giving Tyrion a pep talk to make him optimistic. I think the only thing he could do is say well the Living won once before, lets hope we can too.

Also I wont go too into it but i think the Weirwood trees are going to be huge. We know that bran can see the past from the trees (take note that when hes looking into the past for Leanna and Rheagar’s wedding, hes standing by one, because he can see history through the eyes of the trees, or rather the carved faces in the trees also animals i guess?). Weirwood trees are special because they never rot, they will never die unless cut down, and they hold centuries and millenia of data from what they’ve lived through. Now Bran’s plan is to be bait for the Night King sitting by his family’s weirwood tree (which we dont see a lot of them other than (1) north of the wall where the original three eyed raven lived in (2) a brief mention when Sansa was in Kings Landing that she would go to the Gods Woods for silence, and (3) in the winterfell grounds. If you’re a book reader (or Wiki of Fire and Ice Reader) you know theres something called the Isle of Faces, where the First Men and the Children of the Forrest made the “Pact” for peace. No one knows what the Pact was for except that the First Men were not to cut down any more Weirwoods, and this island is magical. I know we havent seen much of it (except for when the Children were telling Bran how they made white walkers and we got the overhead shot of the island with the sprial stones venturing out from the center Weirwood tree) but its supposed to be an island south located somewhere near the twins (where CLEARLY a lot has happened there). I am interested (1) to see if theyre going to use the trees in some way as a force (2) if theyre going to retreat south and stumble upon the isle of faces and (3) if Winterfell being one last place for these godlike trees to be living is going to have any impact on the night king at all. They made it a point to show us the map that bran would be by the tree and we know thats his way into see the past. Maybe seeing the Night King will allow him to tap into the tree’s history and see how the Age of Heros conqured the Long Night and brought the Dawn to beat the White Walkers back, maybe hell see the pact between the Children and the First Men to see what could have sparked the Whites walking back down, maybe the Night King will just tear down the tree and there goes all of Brans access to the history of Westeros. I cant begin to speculate because everythings so up in the air, and maybe nothing will come from this, but i also wondered…..Arya’s weapon, any chance that could be made from the Weirwood tree wood? Thatd make a pretty spectacular weapon if it was both dragon glass and weirwood tree (indestructible non rotting wood with magical powers AND dragon glass…maybe she shall survive)

Not trying to annoy, you probs already know everything about the trees but idk i have a feeling theyre going to sneak up on us and be a huge part of this story so im well versed in the knowledge so im not left scratching my heads.

thanks again,
Gill
