Hey all, in all the talk about Varys, I realized that another culprit could be the bank itself. If we go back to the Cersei-Mycroft meeting, he knows about the dragons, knows about all the statuses of the families, and talks about who he’s betting on.

It makes total sense that the bank knows exactly what’s happening with Dany’s forces – she wouldn’t have left Mereen with empty coffers, and she needs food and supplies for the armies – plus those super stylish uniforms. The same for Euron – if you suspend your disbelief about how fast he built those ships – money for supplies and men would have moved the process along.

I also suspect – this might be a stretch – but if Olena let the bank know she would either be withdrawing money for her army or asking for additional credit, it may have also triggered the trip to call in the Lanister debts.

If Cersei knows the banker is coming, she knows she’s got to find gold. She may know Euron has credit to reinforce the armada, she may guess that Casterly Rock could be attacked, and we know she was always going to go after Olena to squash the rest of the Tyrells.

While it may not be as sexy as spies, it seems like insider trading with little nudges to push the pieces around the board.
