Have a Theory? Share It Now!

Hi there,

Thanks for doing this podcast! It makes the one-week wait between the episodes more bearable!

A few thoughts for you on the whereabouts of the Night King, the crypts, and Jon’s claim to the throne.

Here is my theory why the Night King is not there: he’s with the ice dragon. It makes sense since he’s the only one who has been shown to ride him. That goes to reason that he’ll stay behind with the dragon and then “swoop in” at a critical moment. It also makes sense based on what Bran said that “he’ll never expose himself”.

On the crypts: there was a huge amount of foreshadowing how the crypts are “SUPER SAFE!” which means that anyone who goes there is going to die (RIP Tyrion and Gilly!). I like the theory of all the dead rising from their tombs, but it also brings up the uncomfortable thought of a wight Ned…

On Jon’s claim to the throne / his Targaryen blood… Isn’t the fact that he is the ONLY person to ride the dragon besides Danaerys proof that he is a Targaryen? I’m surprised that Dani doesn’t see it. Or she is so wrapped up in her claim to the throne that she is blind to that reality. Once she sees that the dragons actually obey Jon, that may be the only proof that would really convince her. (That’s why that “Alladin” scene with the dragons was really critical to this story line.) It will be interesting to see how that whole story plays out, and whether Dani will ever come to accept Jon’s claim to the throne.

Agree with you guys that this was a great setup episode that made us care even more about these characters, most of whom will certainly end up dead (or un-dead!). It also provided nice closure for some of them (e.g. Jamie and Bran, Jamie and Brienne, Sansa and Theon), which means some/all of them will die.

Can’t wait until next Sunday!

Elena
