The Iron Throne

I might get some hate from what I say here, but just my thoughts.
Dany is dead, praise hands all around.
TBH I have never been a Danaryus fan, the downfall of anyone claiming their right to the throne is the fact that they are convinced they “deserve” it. Look at Jon, for instance, the moment he is faced with the truth of his position, the destiny he has, his reaction is to serve Daenaryus. But when we look at Daenaryus, she starts to fight for her right for the position.
Daenaryus has been fighting to find her worth her purpose, by the praise of her people, she wants a show, an audience, a crowd to cheer her on. When Jon wants the opposite, he doesn’t want people to witness his successes, the victories he wants to have victory for the purpose of his family.
I found it a chilling moment when Tyrion points out something to Jon in the final episode when he says, “she faced evil men, and killed them along the way, and we cheered, and LOVED her for it.” This moment was so chilling for me because we are finally realizing that Daenerys was evil all along, we just didn’t see it because she chose her opponents wisely, she appealed to our weakness as fans and killed men that “deserved” it, therefore we didn’t have a different view of her in the beginning.
Tyrion is facing the fact that he chose the wrong path, and hoping to rectify that mistake, he is hoping that Jon can redeem him. But even still after Jon kills Dany, he asks Tyrion, “did I do the right thing?” It’s important to remember that Jon didn’t kill her because she was totally evil, he didn’t see that side of her yet, he was hopeful, she was good. Jons character has always been someone who doesn’t judge, he has always shown grace, and mercy and given even the worst of people the benefit of the doubt. Killing Dany went against everything Jon represented, he could have easily continued on to support Dany, and hope the best, give her a second chance to redeem her “mistake” to slaughter the people of kings landing. But he knows at that moment when Dany says, “I choose what’s right.” That he is faced to assume the worst of her and prevent her from becoming worse.
Jon was honorable to Dany, he killed her at her best, she conquered the evil that infested Westeros, and left her a savior, to her people like the unsullied. If Jon had taken the throne it would’ve been disappointing, we know he didn’t enjoy killing Dany, we know he doubted his decision.
A separate thing to add, was Greyworms face when Dany “honored” him as master and commander of war. To be honest he didn’t seem too pleased. The moment Missandei died, is the moment Greyworm went back to being a mindless warrior, following orders, he didn’t put thought into. I find it comforting that he went to Naath, to have a better purpose because Dany was turning him back into a dutiful warrior, someone who did her bidding, the equivalent to “the Mountain” as he was to Cersei. I respect his ending, as weird as it was, I can find peace in the fact that he is leaving a free man, as Daenerys promised him, and he is going to live his life the way he wanted to.
As for Sansa finishing as the queen of the North, did anyone else cry at the moment she is putting on her dress, that was beautifully sequined, in leaves falling and snow embroidered? I felt this as such a winning moment for the female power that everyone has been so upset about with Cersei, and Dany. Cersei and Dany are an exact presentation of a poor picture of women in authority, the reason I say this is because they have an expectation by their family name to give them the life they “deserve” granted their lives have been less than ideal, I still think Sansa is a better representation. Female fans have been complaining as to how unfair it is that these powerful women didn’t get their position on the throne. But to be honest I would have hated that.
Sansa was exactly what we women fight for today. We want respect, to begin with, we want people to look at us as equal from the beginning, Sansa didn’t have to force her respect onto the people, they saw that she was capable, and she took what was right for the people. Her journey was worse than Daenerys, forced into marriage twice, beaten, raped, all while thinking her family is dead. Daenerys could argue the same, but she had lovers, she grew to love Khal Drogo, and she decided her path once she reached her protected authority in Mereen. Sansa was forced into her circumstances with no way out and she had to fight for where she is at, she didn’t force her authority, she even appealed to Daenerys to consider letting the North be independent, and Dany refused. Sansa has fought against all odds, and even fought against women in the show, and she landed on top, to represent a woman who is capable of ruling a kingdom, not because she has the name, but because she truly loves her people, as her family, and her own.
