Hi Gene and Big D,

Big listener of your podcasts..sad to see it come to an end but nothing lasts forever.

Personally enjoyed (not loved) season 8, was a hard position for the writers to satisfy everyones needs but I think it was an ok ending. What I am writing in about is how you both think this season in particular will differ from the books, and/or how much George R Martin had to say/influence in the *key* events.

Before viewing ep 6 I actually said to my partner if the final episode REALLY sucks it could have some sort of effect on book sales down the line. Then it got me thinking whether the double D”s have just gone with that they think was fitting and perhaps not what we will see eventually in the novels. Take the following events

* Arya killing the Nights King. Massive event/moment… 8 seasons of build up. Completely washed over and forgotten about. Literally no one mentions it or cares. Hell Arya”s character doesn’t waiver a bit from this (stays true to her at least). So why Arya? Jon had battled the dead countless times, at least him ending it would satisfy viewers.I really thought that would go down completely different and maybe it will.

*Jon reveal as the true heir. Apart from creating a rift between Dany and Jon and some gossip for Westeros did it really mean anything? This slow slow slow build up (and literally a cliff hanger in season 7) just meant they didn’t bang a couple times. Did this cause Dani to go mad? No, Did Vary”s break character and die for absolutely no reason.. Yes!

*Dani”s character Arc. Luke to Vader in two sleeps. Enough said.

I believe these 3 topics are the biggest disappointments after 8 seasons of investment in the show and hopefully for us readers may go a different way in the books or at least with a bit more meat then the show gave us. Other then that what a ride and bring on Westworld!

From the land down under,
