The Size of Westeros

Have a Theory? Share It Now!

Guys – This is for you and all the listeners. We have to suspend disbelief when it comes to geography and time in the show.

Martin asks for us to do this in the books. He says that a number of chapters overlap or occur at different times, and characters show up hundreds of miles in their next appearance.

Westeros is the size of South America, according to GRRM, so it is huge. While Dragonstone appears to be close to King’s Landing, there is some large distance between the two.

Euron’s fleet could have easily turned at Massey’s Hook and made for King’s Landing not coming anywhere near Dragonstone.

Additionally, time is not linear between each scene. (from the series premiere we first see the Lannisters in King’s Landing then in the North later in the episode)

So, let’s all give the show, George and ourselves a break and just enjoy the story.

Also, that’s not Wun Wun – wrong eye, not filled with arrows, Jon would have burned, and his body is near Winterfell not Beyond the Wall! (unless the vision is of the future)

Keep doing what you do!
