The Thing About Caleb

Hey crew:

Regarding why Hale needs Caleb, yes it could be that he had the last access to Rohoboam, or its because hes an outlier.

Season 3 showed us that he was determined by Rohoboam as an outlier so he fought in the Russian civil war, came home and became essentially the outlier roundup crew. He was very good at hunting and catching other outliers. He also was reprogrammed after they were done using him as an outlier catcher.

So last season was all about Caleb being an outlier, having a different brain, and you have Host William in the previous episode bringing up that hes Neurodivergent and going against him wouldnt play into the Vice Presidents base (indicating that regardless of what Ford said season 1, we clearly havent cured all mental disorders). So clearly you have still a population of humans with non typical brains.

Hale needs Calebs brain to refine the fly-tech. Maybe he needs a different goo maybe he needs different tones maybe he can only respond to certain commands or maybe she needs to test how long an outlier brain can be controlled before going crazy.

Caleb is to the Humans what Dolores and Maeve were to the hosts. His programming is different, he has more free will than the others, hes harder to take control of. Hale needs to test him so she can continue controlling humans.
