Hey Guys,

So after listening to the deep dive I need to append to my e-mail. Hope you guys don’t mind the second e-mail. I promise I’m not a crazy internet stalker… mostly.

In the deep dive you guys were puzzling over timeline. I think the following makes sense.

In season 1 right after they get to the park Logan and William have a discussion about the park where he says he wants to substantially increase his Delos holdings in the park. So For a timeline here is what I see. 1. Arnold Talks to Dolores in the hotel room and shows her his house. 2. The same night Logan gets his private showing which convinces him to make a small investment in the park before it even opens. Not enough to get control but some cash. Just like in real life if you buy some stock in Disney it doesn’t give you unfettered access unless you buy a hell of a lot. 3. Arnold starts to believe that they cant open the park and eventually gets Dolores to kill him and shoot all the hosts. Ford covers it up keeping investors from finding out the extent of what really happened. He wipes out as much of a record of Arnold as he can because he doesn’t want Arnold’s death to destroy the park before it ever gets off the ground. He does it so well that even pictures of him are hard to find as mentioned by Logan in season 1. 4. The park opens.
5. Logan and William visit the park with the events in season 1. 6. William comes back to the park with Jim Delos and convinces him to make a much bigger investment into the park. This gives them access and at least some control. 7. William goes back to the park and talks to Dolores and shows her the facility being built. 8. Jim is sick and William throws him the retirement party where the Daughter is.

Item 7 and 8 might be swapped depending on that the facility actually is. However this maintains the timeline and sorts out all the issues. I don’t actually think the timeline is supposed to be any type of big reveal this season because they already did that last season and we are looking for it. I’m still working on what I think will be the big reveal this season.

Additionally, Not to poke holes in Big D’s theory of Arnold being an A.I. that ford created but… well I’m going to poke holes in it. 1. What would be the point of him building a house in mainland china for his family. This is something Dolores remembers him showing her? 2. What would be the point in giving an A.I. The idea that it had a family in the first place? 3. Ford talks about Arnold in a very real sense every time he comes up. He talks about his tragic personal life, He even talks about how he cleans his glasses. None of those things would apply to an A.I. 4. If ford could have created an A.I. that gained sentience in the first place, why did he need the A.I. to help him make the other hosts more life like? If Arnold came to think that the hosts were alive separate from Ford and then set into motion all the events we see up until he gets killed doesn’t that mean he had free will? 5. We do in fact see Arnold in the same room with someone we know is a living person. We see him in the reflection in the window of the hotel last episode with young Ford.

Thanks guys, the podcast is an irreplaceable part of the whole Westworld viewing experience.

Making a learning machine isn’t nearly as difficult as making believable hosts. Once a learning machine reaches technological singularity, it becomes a better developer than its creator.
